Custom Clearance

Custom Clearance for Imported Vehicles: Handled Correctly. Every Single Time.

Port clearance is where most imported car stories go wrong. Incomplete paperwork, miscalculated duties, unverified agents, every one of these turns a straightforward process into weeks of delay and thousands in unexpected costs. By handling all customs clearance, CARS Pakistan eliminates all risk associated with vehicle imports at Karachi port.

The Part of the Import Process That Most Buyers Fear: Resolved.

Ask anyone who has attempted to import a vehicle independently what they found most stressful. Almost universally, the answer is port clearance. The Goods Declaration filing, duty calculation, channel assessment, physical inspection, and final release involve multiple government systems, strict documentation requirements, and a process that moves at its own pace, unless the right people are managing it.

At CARS Pakistan, every imported vehicle, whether purchased from our showroom stock or sourced on order from any of our seven international markets, is cleared at Karachi port through Jumbo International. Jumbo International is a Government of Pakistan-approved customs clearing agency that has been associated with the automotive industry and serving Pakistan's trade since 1980.

This is not a generic freight forwarder. This is a specialist vehicle clearing agency with an established presence at Karachi port, a direct working relationship with CARS Pakistan, and a process built around eliminating the complications that catch buyers off guard.

The result is a customs clearance experience that is predictable, documented, and free of the surprises that define most people's worst import stories. Duties are calculated and declared upfront. Documentation is prepared correctly before the vehicle arrives at port. And the process runs through channels that we have navigated thousands of times.

What Happens From Port Arrival to Vehicle Release

For buyers who want to understand what customs clearance actually involves, this is the process as it runs for every vehicle CARS Pakistan imports and sources globally.

01

Pre-Arrival Documentation Preparation

Before the vehicle leaves the source country, CARS Pakistan prepares all required documentation. This includes verifying the Bill of Lading, commercial invoice, export certificate, and scheme-specific eligibility documents. Pre-arrival preparation means that when the vessel arrives at Karachi port, the clearance process does not wait for document gathering.

02

Goods Declaration Filing via WeBOC

On vessel arrival, we file the Goods Declaration through Pakistan Customs' WeBOC system. The GD includes complete vehicle details: make, model, chassis number, engine number, engine capacity, year of manufacture, source country, declared value, and applicable import scheme.

03

Customs Channel Assessment

Pakistan Customs processes import consignments through green, yellow, and red channels. Green channel consignments are cleared immediately, yellow requires document verification, and red requires full physical inspection. Our documentation accuracy helps minimise clearance time.

04

Duty Calculation and Payment

Customs duties are calculated by FBR based on engine capacity, vehicle type, year of manufacture, and hybrid concessions where applicable. Duties are paid through the official WeBOC e-payment system before release.

05

Physical Inspection Where Required

Where customs assigns a vehicle to the red channel, we manage the physical inspection process at the port. This includes presenting the vehicle, verifying chassis and engine numbers, and facilitating the inspector's assessment.

06

Vehicle Release and Delivery Order

Once duties are paid and clearance is confirmed, a Delivery Order is issued. The vehicle is released from port into the custody of CARS Pakistan for onward delivery or further registration processing.

Common Problems

The Most Common Clearance Problems Pakistani Buyers Face

Most of the clearance complications buyers experience are not random. They follow a predictable pattern, which is why the choice of clearing agent matters as much as the choice of vehicle.

Using an Agent Who Does Not Specialise in Vehicles

Using an Agent Who Does Not Specialise in Vehicles

Vehicle customs clearance involves export certificates, chassis verification, scheme eligibility, and hybrid concession applications. Generalist freight forwarding agents handle these infrequently, which increases the chance of errors.

Receiving a Low Duty Estimate to Win the Business

Receiving a Low Duty Estimate to Win the Business

Many complaints involve attractive duty estimates upfront followed by higher figures at port. CARS Pakistan calculates duties on the specific vehicle before the order is placed.

Documentation Prepared After Arrival

Documentation Prepared After Arrival

Preparing Goods Declaration and supporting documents after the vessel docks creates delay and potential demurrage. Our process begins before the vehicle departs the source country.

Incorrect Scheme Application

Incorrect Scheme Application

Transfer of Residence, Gift Scheme, and Personal Baggage imports have specific eligibility requirements. Applying the wrong scheme can result in clearance rejection.

Chassis and Engine Number Discrepancies

Any mismatch between declared and actual chassis or engine numbers can trigger inspection or hold. Experienced vehicle clearing specialists verify these before filing.
