Late Tahir Mehmood established CARS in Karachi in 1990 with a belief that was straightforward and, at the time, not especially common in Pakistan’s automotive market: that buyers deserved the full truth about what they were purchasing and what it would cost.
That principle shaped everything: how vehicles were sourced, how prices were presented, how imports were managed, and how clients were treated after the sale. It was not a positioning strategy. It was the way the business was run from the first day it opened.
When Arghan Tahir took over operations in 2008, he carried that foundation forward. Not as a tribute to the past, but because it was the right way to operate. Under his leadership, CARS has grown substantially, expanding its global sourcing reach, deepening its banking and insurance partnerships, and building an end-to-end service structure that no competitor in Karachi has matched. The business that operates today is meaningfully larger than the one founded in 1990. The values are identical.
